Scouts must be able to climb stairs and stand for extended periods. Part of this class will be taught from inside the Linn County Emergency Management vehicle and we are unable to offer mobility accommodations.
Prequisites:
- Req 1: Earn the First Aid Merit Badge. Scouts who want to have the Emergency Preparedness MB signed off at this class must bring proof they have completed First Aid in the form of an advancement report showing the scout name and date earned or email from their Troop Advancement Chair or Scoutmaster confirming it has been earned. Presenting the badge/patch is not sufficient.
- Req 2c: Meet with and teach your family how to get or build a kit, make a plan, and be informed for the situations on the chart you created for requirement 2b. Complete a family plan. Then meet with your counselor and report on your family meeting, discuss their responses, and share your family plan.
- Req 8b: Prepare a personal emergency service pack for a mobilization call. Prepare a family emergency kit (suitcase or waterproof box) for use by your family in case an emergency evacuation is needed. Explain the needs and uses of the contents. Bring your kit to class (or pictures of the kit and contents if the family kit is large).
